This action is called “posting the blinds”. However, the betting structure is not always the same; some web-based casinos are using antes in the beginning of a game. After the wagers have been made, the dealer shuffles the cards. Texas Hold’em is played with a standard deck of 52 cards. Each player receives two cards facing down, called in poker terms pocket or hole cards. Another betting round starts. The first player to place his bet is the one sitting in the left of the players that have already posted their blinds. This round is known as the pre-flop. The amount of money you can bet depends on the type of game you are playing. Just like in any kind of poker games, the players can choose to fold, call or raise.
Further on, after all the betting ends; you will see that the dealer will discard the top card of the deck. This action is made to prevent any attempts to cheat and it is known in poker terms as the burn card.
The player sitting on the dealer’s left starts another betting round. After all the bets have been made, the dealer must burn another card and flip another on the Texas Hold’em poker table. This action is known by poker players as the turn card that can be used by any player to make a five card poker hand. Going on, the same player that started the last betting round now starts another one. Usually, this is the moment when the bet can be doubled.
Finally, the dealer burns another card and places another one, facing up, on the poker table. This action is known as the river. In this moment player have to make decisions. They can form their hands using the five cards placed on the poker table or the two pocket cards. A poker hand must always be formed from five cards. The game quickly approaches the end.
